Tour Details

Tirthan valley is situated at a height of 1600 meters and it is the archway to The Great Himalayan National Park, a place full of trails amidst nature. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday or to experience pure bliss, this is the place to be. Apart from the many activities that you can participate in, Tirthan river is recognized as a fishing destination with trout fish as its specialty.

A variety of treks can be taken in Tirthan, making it an ideal place for camping, bonfires and other leisure activities which are hard to find place and peace for in a city. A three day holiday is good enough to explore Tirthan but revel in the entirety of it you can always extend your stay and explore nearby Himalayan towns of Kasol and Manikaran.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Shimla

You will be arriving at Shimla airport / railway station in the morning. You will be received by us and subsequently checked into a hotel. After ample rest and freshening up, we will start by exploring The Mall (oldest and famous market of Shimla) and Lakkar (Wood) Bazaar on foot, as this is a vehicle free zone you can roam around carefree. Many colonial time neo-gothic style buildings still exist at walkable distance from the mall, they are a part of Shimla’s heritage and some of them are as old as Shimla itself. Few of the famous buildings are Gaiety Theatre, Christ Church, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Railway Board Building, General Post Office, Gorton Castle (now Accountant General’s office). After a day full of exploration of the oldest part of Shimla, we will be retiring in our respective hotel rooms for the night.

Day 2Shimla - Kufri (Local Sightseeing)

Post breakfast at the hotel. We will start our excursion to Kufri (famous for beautiful landscape) for the first half of the day. At kufri you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Himalayan ranges. Later, after returning back to Shimla a local sightseeing tour will be organized of the Shimla city. We will be visiting The Viceregal Lodge (Monday closed from inside – also known as Indian Institute of Advance Studies), State Museum (Monday closed) and Jakhoo temple. Once the visits are over, we will head back to the hotel for the night.

Day 3Shimla - Rewalsar - Mandi

After a good breakfast at the hotel, we will drive to Rewalsar. Rewalsar is a holy town for three religions which are Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism. Firstly, we will visit the holy Lake of Rewalsar also called Rewalsar Tso Pema (Lotus Lake) by Tibetans and Buddhists in honor of the Indian Yogi Padmasambhava who lived and meditated here. Later, we will be visiting a beautiful monastery named Zigar Orgyen Choekorling Monastery well known of its 138 feet high golden statue of Guru Rinpoche . Thereafter we will visit the Guru Padmasambhava cave, situated 07 kms above Rewalsar town. After the visits are over we will be continuing our drive to Mandi. Mandi was famously known as Kashi (Benaras) of Himalayas. Once we reach we will be checked-into our hotel. After ample rest in the evening we will explore Mandi town which is famous for its century old stone temples such as Trilok Nath Temple, Panch Vaktra Temple. If time permits we can even attend the evening aarti at the known Bhootnath temple. We will retrieve back to our hotel afterwards for the night.

Day 4Mandi - Prashar Lake - Manali

Post breakfast at the hotel we will be starting our day by driving to Manali. Enroute we will visit Prashar Lake. Prashar is situated at an altitude of approx. 2700 meters above sea level and is famous for amazing views of snow peak mountains and centuries old beautiful wooden temple which belongs to Parashar Rishi. After the break, we will continue your drive to Manali. If you are interested, we can also visit the beautiful Brishweshwar temple at Bajaura, just before reaching Bhunter town. We will be checking in our hotel after reaching Manali and retiring for the night.

Day 5Manali (Local Sightseeing)

After breakfast at the hotel we will be starting our sightseeing tour of Manali. Firstly, we will visit Hadimba temple, Manu temple in Old Manali and Vashisht temple famous for its hot water spring (kund). In the afternoon we will explore the local markets of Manali and visit Tibetan monasteries which are located at a walking distance from the main market of Manali i.e. The Mall. Lastly we will retire in our respective hotel rooms for the night.

Day 6Manali - Rohtang Pass - Solang

After having your breakfast at the hotel you will have two options for the day-

Solang Valley: At Solang Valley you will have the option to take a Gondola ride (on direct payment basis) to witness the mesmerizing snow capped high mountain ranges. Return back to Manali after the day’s tour. Overnight stay in Manali.

Rohtang Pass: Rohtang is a high mountain pass and is the road which connects the Kullu valley with the landlocked Lahaul and Spiti valleys.

Note: Rohtang Pass remains closed for the tourists on every Tuesdays due to maintenance work. To visit Rohtang Pass on other days, vehicles needs a special permit issued by local government agencies. As limited vehicles are allowed per day to the pass, it is not always confirmed that permit can be acquired the same day and should be booked in advanced and has to be separately. Otherwise, you can also directly book with local transport union, if they can arrange and provide a vehicle which has a permit for this excursion tour, you can pay them according to the charges. There will not be any reduction in the tour cost if our vehicle is unable to get a permit for this excursion tour.

Day 7Manali - Naggar - Kullu

To start our day we will have our breakfast at the hotel and later on start our drive to Kullu visiting Naggar enroute. Naggar was the scenic capital of the erstwhile Kullu kingdom. At Naggar we will visit The Naggar Castle which has a beautiful view of the Pir Panjal ranges, Roerich’s Art Gallery and Tripura Sundari temple. You can also visit Jana Waterfalls and some authentic villages of Kullu region like Jana and Nashala which are close to Naggar. If interested you also have an option to enjoy adventure activities like river rafting on river Beas or paragliding at Kullu valley. Later, upon arrival in Kullu we will be checking in at the hotel and visit the Raghunath Temple in the evening. We will be staying over at our hotel for the night.

Day 8Kullu - Tirthan Valley

Post breakfast in the morning we will visit the beautiful and famous Adi-Brahma Temple, located in Khokhan village, which is just 4 km from Bhuntar towards north. It is a massive wooden structure. This temple has idols of Adi-Brahma in the center and ‘Garh-Jogni’ and ‘Manikaran-Jogni’ on left and right side of the temple. Later we will drive to Tirthan Valley which derives its name from the Tirthan river, which cuts its way through it. The pristine river originates from the icy cold glacial springs of Hanskund, a snow-covered peak in the verdant Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP). Tirthan is an offbeat destination that has something for everyone. This quiet valley is ideal for trekking, fishing, wildlife watching, and discovering un-explored hill villages. There’s also the option of doing absolutely nothing as you relax among the pine trees in the valley. Upon arrival you will be checked-in at your hotel. During afternoon you can visit the nearby waterfall which is around 1 hour trek from Mata Buddhi Nagin temple. We will be staying overnight at out hotel.

Day 9Tirthan Valley

Once we have had our breakfast you can either trek up to The Great Himalayan National Park or you can also go for an excursion to visit The Jalori Pass from where you can trek up to Serolsar Lake. After returning you can visit famous temples like Shringa Rishi and Chehni Kothi (to reach Chehni Kothi temples, you will have to trek for approx. 01 hr from the road). As our visits are over we will retire for the night at our hotel.

Day 10Tirthan - Chandigarh

After breakfast at the hotel, we will start out drive towards Chandigarh, wherein you will be transferred to either the airport or the railway station in accordance to the need.
